The Delaware Water Gap, one of New Jersey’s most impressive
and familiar natural features, dominates Warren County’s western
skyline where the Kittatinny Mountains have given way to eons of
steady persuasion by the Delaware River. The famous notch has long
been a landmark, not only for natural splendor, recreational attraction
and gentle farmland, but also for transportation and industry. Interstate
Route 80, US Route 46 and State Highway 94 meet near the gap, bringing
the townships of Knowlton, Blairstown, Hope, Hardwick and Frelinghuysen
within minutes of each other. The local villages and their special
setting create an appealing blend of culture, history and outdoor
adventure.
